There's a tool called Bome Midi Translator that can apparently map keys on an instrument to keyboard's keys, and then there's Bard Music Player, though I don't know in how far the latter can do key mapping. As for the capabilities of the Bard Performance system, IMHO SE keeps it pretty limited to avoid getting into copyright issues.Make a copy of this before changing your settings and keep it somewhere safe. Then once you settle on bard settings, make a copy of that, too. Then just copy over the appropriate config before you start the game depending on what you want to do. Makes it easy to switch between gaming and barding settings.
